Important Benefits To Learn From Noahs Flood

By Janet Jones

Noah was 480 years old when God called him to build an ark. Noah succeeded and today, his story is read is learned in almost every religious setting. People love to reflect on Noahs flood because of the lessons derivable from the story. There are more than 7 lessons one can get by reflecting on the incident.

The first thing that is noticeable in the account is Noah's obedience. Noah was willing to do what God was instructing him to do despite his age. It is possible that his willingness must have attracted God's grace upon him to do the job according to all the specifications that were given to him. Bringing in all the animals was also another task but Noah did not disobey even though it must not have been an easy task either.

This story is equally meant for those who think that God cannot destroy life. If he is the giver of life, then nothing prevents him from taking it also. He forewarned that he would destroy the human race with water and he did not relent in fulfilling it. This shows that God is good but it is terrible to fall into His hands when he is angry.

Many people have been caught unawares by danger despite God's warning because He acts slowly sometimes. This is another example that debunks the idea. The people of Israel did not listen to Noah's advice probably because they thought that God had forgotten what He said. Whenever He makes a proclamation, it is good to take note of it as it will surely come to pass.

From the account, one can also see that God provides a way of escape when he is angry. Although he really meant to wipe out man for his inconsistencies, he still provided a way out for his salvation. This is why so many Christians in their worship refer to Him as a Father who is both fearful and loving.

Also, the story teaches that when you are with God, danger may be everywhere but it cannot affect you. This stresses the need for men to turn away from their sinful nature and cling to God. Anyone who has decided to be lord over his life without recognizing the control of God for himself should be aware that perilous times will come and they will not survive it if God does not show mercy.

Even though Noah was discouraged by people who were mocking Him, he still did not give up. He was bent on finishing God's work despite what others thought about him. Although he did not have an idea of what the flood was, he had faith in God and believed that he was capable of doing what he said.

Noah's account was written in the Bible, not just for knowledge sake. The lessons are rich and everyone who wants to take God seriously must follow them. If not for Noah, the entire human race would probably be history today but through him, God's purpose for creation was reactivated. It is therefore important to try to be different in any place you find yourself. If others are doing wrong, maintain your stance to follow Him as you may be the reason for their survival tomorrow.
