Watercolors

Sometimes we take shots of landscapes without carefully contemplate their beauty. This man, with his watercolors, captures every detail of the landscapes he sees in his notebook. Nature's Palette

So contradictory to its image as a harsh and formidable landscape, I found the landscapes around Death Valley to be almost delicate and poetic. Soft pastel washes in the badlands reminded me of brilliantly composed watercolor paintings. by ValerieMillett Landscapes color, death valley, desert, light, watercolor via 500px http://500px.com/photo/59932384

Inspiration

Happy Birthday, 500px! One more logo image...same general idea and setup as my last image, but with more light on the front. A flash behind the cardboard cutout gives the logo its glow. I couldn't decide which one I liked more. What do you think? by jasonwaltman Abstract 500px,500pxbirthday,flash,light,logo,watercolor,window,abstract,abstraction via 500px http://ift.tt/1sOps9C

Interpretation

Happy Birthday, 500px! I was inspired by the colorful 500px logo that I've seen from time to time--the one that looks like mixing oil and water (currently visible at 500px.com/press). I decided to cut the logo out of a piece of cardboard and attach a piece of clear film that I "painted" on using markers. I then placed a flash behind the cardboard and exposed for the bright logo letting everything else go black. Originally I was going to just crop to the logo, but in the end I liked having a bit of the background and thought including it made for a more interesting composition. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! by jasonwaltman Abstract 500px,500pxbirthday,flash,light,logo,watercolor,abstract,abstraction via 500px http://ift.tt/1rdX9Pc
