The ability to enjoy reading is very advantageous that comes naturally to some while others need to work at it a bit. Typically, the earlier and more frequently a young person is exposed to literature, the better many of their key life skills will tend to be. Speaking generally, females are naturally better at sitting still and focusing while males tend to be driven to move and often have difficulty concentrating. Though some adults simply dismiss a child's disinterest in books as no big matter, there are actually multiple reasons why it is important to encourage them to read anything, even if only magazines and newspapers. Those who do tend to do better in school because their comprehension, writing, communication and creative, as well as critical thinking skills are often heightened. They also generally show improved vocabulary and imagination.

It is a wonderful way to expand one's range of knowledge, take an adventure, learn something new, experience time travel, explore a whole new world or just relax and be entertained. Being able to appreciate the written word is a very special gift indeed.
