Details To Do With Novels About Americans In Mexican Prisons

By Lelia Hall

One of the most dreaded things in this world has to serve time in jail. This may be due to a wide range of crimes committed by the individual and depending on the severity of the crime; a sentence can extend for a period ranging from several months to a full life in jail. The trend of American citizens being held in Mexican prisons is rising and in connection to this, below is information concerning novels about Americans in Mexican prisons.

One marine soldier wrote a book describing his time in one of the most famous Mexican jails. He claimed that he was wrongly arrested from the possession of a short-gun and has never seen such a hard time in his entire life. He wrote and said that he spent almost four months chained to his bed and during these times a lot of threats were made to his life and his family as well and no proper healthcare was given.

In other publications, the American inmates have described their stay in those prisons as horrific, a situation which they cannot fully describe. They state that food services are very rare especially if one is considered to be from the state in question. The other inmates also gang up and physically beat them up until they can hardly move and no external help can be administered in this case too.

Writings by different writers all prove the facts that the issue of rape is very prevalent especially for the minority in this sector. In worst cases, some are even sexually abused by a group of individuals at the same time. This builds a lot of psychological disturbances for the affected person and getting out of here alive especially for an American civilian becomes just but a dream to them as execution is carried out in most of these cases.

There is usually hardly any way out as the experience is just characterized by daily torture and being treated as though they are animals. The lucky few are those who get the chance to escape. These are the few who find ways to run away. However, in the event that one is got in the act, then they are just killed on the spot. This means that very few prisoners make it to tell their stories to the rest of the world.

In the various descriptions in different novels, the descriptions of these prisons are just amazing. Americans who have been unfortunate enough to serve time here say that in most of the cells, there are no windows; inmates are made to sleep on the concrete floor as no sort of bedding is provided and the situation is just pitiful. If one does not adjust with time, he may develop depression and this may be long term.

Through research from different experiences from various ex-inmates, testimonies have been made that the high rate of crime in these prisons is due to the prisoners being in a position to own weapons and money which they use to terrorize other inmates and pay off the soldiers in a bid to cover their tracks for the crimes they commit.

To sum up the above, for years and years on end, Americans have experienced nightmares in these jails. Most even do not live to tell their stories. A solution to this could be got by the American government putting more efforts to rescue their suffering residents.
