Things To Know About The Mobster Crime Novel

By Deborah Anderson

Many people read books in one kind of genre. There are many of these that could be had and new items are added every year, but all major genres have been identified and defined and a new one is often an innovation on an older model. The book which has criminal organizations as a thematic item is classic and may also be an innovative take.

Mafiosi are persons identified as Italian gangsters and their storied and often make for more fascinating reads, but they belong to a general class of written work that could include any organized criminal group and their activities as a focus. The Mobster Crime Novel is one that will include many kinds of mob groups. In the classic scene it is related to the Sicilian mob transplanted in America.

You may see the topic as something that had its day decades ago. The numerous books that were written were made into films or TV series, about the gangsters, their molls, crime operations, fights between authorities and between each other. The topic is certainly rife with dramatic potential and the tonalities could include the darker side of tragedy.

Crime is something that lots of folks go willingly into, and many mobsters will say how they did not come into it willingly. There will really be no liking a thing like this, but many accept and are willing sacrifice their lives for it with morbid humor and even some laconic wit. Life that is being portrayed in books like these is constantly violent.

While criminals pay in the end, there are times when they are portrayed as do gooders, sort of like the Robin Hood type of criminal who steals from the rich to give to the poor. Mobsters, too, have this integral quality, because they often fight for a cause in a political or national climate which disregards the rights of their constituents. They may have formed their groups to protect their people.

The laws will of course be against them but African Americans or Sicilians often say that their groups are fighting and oppressive, unjust system. It will mean their fighting to have better laws, and have them treat everyone equally, getting the ruling group to share power or to step down from laws made by prejudice. Racism, prejudice and discrimination are certainly things that could motivate crime.

A book covering such persons and their activities, beliefs, histories and dreams need to have good research or background. So many authors here often were involved in either these groups or law enforcement, or any background that enables them to know these groups. The movements are a reality which often exist with a cause.

Oppressors often create their own enemies, and when their laws label folks criminal, in terms of justice it may not even be truthful. The many points or issues here also will make for the selling points of a book like this to sell. Any one could be espousing a philosophy, but make this play out in ow their characters live their lives and make their own realities.

The points that make the novel in question unique will be about men who have accepted the life of crime despite the danger. These could be ordinary folks, perhaps sympathetic and even very intelligent. The way many seek a book like this is often relevant to how they sympathize with one cause or another.
