Exploring Gifts For Tree Huggers

By Linda Ruiz

When looking for craft materials, origami designs made from recycled paper, decorative driftwood in its natural form or carved, metal and plastic are all common in the construction of art. Art often makes one of the best gifts for tree huggers. That is, as long as all aspects of the piece are from natural or recycled materials. The best way to assure success with any type of gift giving is to always include a gift receipt when and where possible.

Sustainable gifts, while more prevalent, are still hard to find in some areas. Depending on the area in which one lives, a handmade gift or store bought one might be a better option. Another option is to order green, environmentally friendly gifts from a number of different nature based websites.

On the other hand, at natural areas, this is not often the case. In fact, a number of artisans often frequent these areas on a regular basis. While in these scenic areas, some individuals also take photographic pictures which can also be sold for profit at a later date. Many creative individuals make a living this way by alternating between different types of media and interests.

When it comes to different types of art that can be made from these recycled materials, the sky is often the limit. From ink pens to foot stools, there are many different creations which can be made in a short amount of time. Individuals looking for ideas on different creations can always surf the internet for ideas, inspiration and patterns.

Organic t-shirts, dresses, skirts and other outwear is often available online and at local Natural oriented shops in different areas. These are often some of the best and most comfortable clothing one can buy. It is still important to assure that anyone wearing the clothing does not have allergies to the dye or materials.

Something else a tree hugger might appreciate are books on various topics. Tree huggers generally love gardening and recycling, so books on these subjects and organic cooking often make great gifts. If living in the same area, helping out in the garden a few times a week can often benefit a friend or neighbor. Gifts also come in all shapes and sizes and are not necessarily tangible assets.

One of the most inexpensive and coolest gifts one can give an environmentalist is a pair of socks. Socks come in a variety of colors, sizes and styles. Whether female, male or transgendered, socks are often a great gift. These great foot protectors and warmers can now be found in a number of organic fabrics. Whether at an art festival, fair or store, there are a number of bright and interesting colors and patterns.

Other ideas include items for the kitchen, or green travel accessories. Green travel accessories would include things like bamboo utensils, baskets, clean canteens, safe plastic water bottles and others. All of which make great gifts for little money. When desiring to give a larger gift, items for a picnic are often a good idea. Before giving any food or drink in a gift basket or from online orders, it is often best to check for any allergies or food issues with any recipients.
